Meet the candidates for La Feria city commission
- Updated: October 15, 2020
Two candidates compete to fill the La Feria city commission Place 1 seat this November 3rd. Here’s the candidates in their own words
Place 1 Candidates
Maria Rincon
My name is Maria Rincon, I am a 3rd grade Bilingual Teacher at Sam Houston Elementary in La Feria.
I recently completed a Master’s degree on Clinical Mental Health through Texas A & M University Kingsville, I am currently enrolled on grad school for a doctorate’s degree on Public Policies.
I became a teacher recently, I am on my third year teaching. I started my education journey at the age of 42. I am an advocate for higher education, I want to see our students succeed in life. Education changed my life in many ways, I have more to offer to my children and my community as well. I believe that anyone is capable of doing great things in life if they give their best effort. I am also a huge advocate for our veterans. I am a mother of 4, I am also an ARMY Veteran. I will love to have the opportunity to serve my city, I want to be part of the group of people who help make great decisions for the city and its residents. Elections are approaching fast and some people tend not to go and vote, thinking their vote doesn’t count.
Your vote counts, and your vote decides who gets elected for very important positions. I humbly ask for your vote, help me and together we can make our city prosper.
Maricela Aleman Zuniga
Dear City of La Feria,
My name is Maricela Aleman Zuniga and I am running for City of La Feria Commissioner, Place 1; the seat that my late husband Jesse Zuniga held until his passing 2 months ago.
My decision to run for the city commission was one that I make with full knowledge of the commitment demanded. I am running for one important reason—to continue working on behalf of and for the better interests of all families who live in the same community in which my family and I have lived for 30 years. You have my promise to uphold the integrity, honesty, and passion with which Commissioner Jesse Zuniga brought to the position.
I am aware of and support the hard work that our City of La Feria Administration has invested in helping to place our community on the right path for paying our city debts while maintaining and meeting the city’s needs as the highest priorities. You have my promise to thoroughly review, inquire, and support initiatives that will increase economic opportunities and growth for our community.
I humbly request your vote and the vote of your family and friends for City Commissioner Place 1. Thank you for your support and for your trust.
Sincerely,
Maricela Aleman-Zuniga
