Popular LA FERIA NEWS Columnist to Study Medicine
Teen Topics writer Anjali Bhatla will be following the family tradition of medicine when she attends the Rice/Baylor scholar program in which she’ll be an undergraduate at Rice University, and then medical school at Baylor Medical College located in Houston, Texas to pursue a future career as a physician. Both her parents, Anshu and Brajesh Bhatla, are practicing physicians in Harlingen.
Anjali was one of only 14 students in the country chosen for this highly selective program. Interestingly, she had been accepted earlier to Harvard college, Cambridge in December. “It was a tough job deciding between these two distinguished programs, but Rice/Baylor won out,” she said. While at the Science Academy of South Texas Mercedes, she was honored as a National Merit scholar finalist and a National AP Scholar in her senior year.
She has enjoyed writing for LA FERIA NEWS on topics of interest to teens. Her other interests include playing the piano, community service and dancing.
La Feria News wishes you well, Anjali, on your new adventure. We know you’ll do well and achieve your goals.
