CAF AIRSHOW RETURNS
- Updated: September 25, 2021
PORT ISABEL, TEXAS, September 2021 — The Commemorative Air Force – Rio Grande Valley Wing (CAF-RGV Wing) will be presenting its second annual CAF AIRSHOW! the weekend of October 1-3, 2021 at the Port Isabel- Cameron County Airport. The show will feature world class aerobatics, WW II air battle reenactments, complete with pyrotechnics, and modern military. It will be an exciting event that teaches the lessons of history and demonstrates the many and varied career opportunities in aviation, all in a family friendly fair-like environment.
The flying portion of the show will last 2-3 hours. In addition to flying activities, there will be a kiddie land, flea market, food and drink concessions as well as a variety of static displays. General Admission Advance adult tickets are $17.00 online and $20.00 at the gate. Parking and general admission for kids 12 and under are free.
An exciting and spectacular addition to CAF AIRSHOW! 2021 this year will be a twilight and evening performance Friday, October 1 over the Bay at South Padre Island. The 2-hour show, the first of its kind on the Texas coast, will end with a breathtaking four plane formation act followed by a thrilling and sparkling single ship performance to highlight the Night Show. Show center for CAF AIRSHOW “AFTER DARK” will be at the green space in the entertainment district on South Padre Island. Admission is free.
CAF AIRSHOW! is the primary fundraiser for the CAF-RGV Wing Transportation Museum located at the Cameron County Airport. Without the financial support generated by AIRSHOW!, the Wing will not be able to continue operating as the only Transportation and Flying Museum in south Texas and a valuable tourist attraction that is both unique and educational will be lost. This event is produced in its entirety by the volunteer members of the CAF Airshow Team. There is no paid staff.
A-10 “Warthog” Thunderbolt II Confirmed
The CAF AIRSHOW 2021 Team is thrilled to announce a last-minute addition to this year’s airshow. Last week, confirmation was received from the United States Air Force that the A-10 Thunderbolt II Tactical Demonstration team will be a featured performer at this year’s air extravaganza. This is the first time in over 10 years the CAF AIRSHOW! has been favored with a USAF demonstration team.
The A-10 is the Air Force’s premier close air support aircraft, providing invaluable protection to troops on the ground. The Air Combat Command A-10C Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team, stationed out of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, brings the aircraft to air shows around the country to showcase the unique combat capabilities of the A-10 “Warthog.” They perform precision aerial maneuvers while highlighting the mission and professionalism of the men and women of the United States Air Force. It is truly an amazing experience.
Show dates are October 2 & 3, 2021 at the Cameron County Airport. Adult advance sale tickets are available online for $17.00 and gate tickets are $20. There is no charge for parking and children 12 and under get in free with an adult ticketholder.
