La Feria, TX – Leatrice V. Fojt (Leah) 91, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2013. She passed away peacefully in her home. Leatrice was born November 14, 1921 to John Emerson and Mary Vernon in Sayre, Ok. Her and her husband ( the late Milton O. Fojt )farmed in the Mercedes/Weslaco area for 17 years before moving to La Feria in 1967 where they grew vegetables and cotton until they retired in 1982. Leatrice was a member of the Church of Christ in La Feria, a volunteer at the American Legion in La Feria serving food and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Winfred Vernon, sisters, Estellene Fichtler, Malee Dubose and Bernice Walker, her husband of 45 years Milton O. Fojt, son Eugene M. Fojt, daughter Janice K. Fojt. She is survived by daughter Sue Fojt Cizler (Danny), granddaughters Kelly (Adam) Hixson, Kristy (Rusty) Terry and three great grandchildren Chase Hixson, Kylie Hixson and Mason Terry; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
