Valley Symphony to be in new Auditorium
Valley music lovers who had the good fortune to be in the audience at the McAllen Civic Center for the Valley Symphony Orchestra’s final concert of the 2014-2015 season experienced an unforgettable program of superb musical performances. For the capacity audience and the musicians alike, it was a rewarding and exhilarating evening. Dr. Dabrowski also had a surprise up his sleeve.
In his selection of music, Maestro Dabrowski indulged his passion for artistic excellence by featuring the Triple Concierto in C Major for Violin, Piano and Cello by Beethoven as the highlight of an evening of classical gems. This romantic masterpiece showcased the talents of pianist Brendan Kinsella, Violinist Diana Seitz and Cellist Tiko Janssen—all with international credentials and positions as professors of music at the University of Texas/Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in Edinburg.
Dabrowski is celebrating his thirteenth season as Music Director and Conductor
of the Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorale and has an unparalleled commitment to support outstanding musical performances and education in the Rio Grande Valley. The maestro is the seventh conductor in the symphony’s sixty-two year history. Under his guidance, the Valley Symphony has risen to become recognized as a musical organization on a par with famous symphonies throughout the world. Dabrowski and many VSO professors are on demand to perform with prestigious orchestras in Europe, Russia, Mexico and South America throughout the year.
The Symphony’s Marketing Director, Vivian Vargas, said that the concerts of the Valley Symphony and the Chorale are a “perfect example of the cultural diversity along with the musical pleasure and education we can deliver to music lovers in the Valley.”
She added: “We are so fortunate to have such a world class orchestra to enjoy right here in the Rio Grande Valley—they are worthy of our support.” She also reminded everyone that it is time to renew your season subscriptions.
Now for the big surprise: An ecstatic Doctor Dabrowski told the capacity crowd that the VSOC 2015-2016 fall season will be in the just-completed new, acoustically-enhanced auditorium on the campus of the University of Texas in Edinburg.
“The orchestra has performed superbly during the past three years, even without a steady home,” he said, adding, “and we are so grateful to all of our loyal supporters and Valley music lovers who have followed us to several locations during these three years of construction.”
Coming in for special gratitude by the maestro were the University of Texas/Rio Grande Valley UTRGV, The City of McAllen and the City of Edinburg.
