Santa Maria STAT Students Give Back

Santa Maria High School STAT. Students in a collaborative effort with their HS National Honor Society and Athlete colleagues worked together to clean up a retired SM Teacher’s yard in hopes of allowing her the freedom to enjoy her yard. Where before there was unsafe brush and uneven steps there is now a secure hand rail and level steps.
The students understood that they can have an impact not only in improving the look of their community but also in improving the quality of life for the local residents if they tackle project together the impact is deeper.
The Santa Maria STAT club was founded by Dr.Jesus Rodriguez in collaboration with Santa Maria I.S.D in 2014. Its goals are to mentor students with goals to become physicians by providing experiences beyond the classroom setting and community service opportunities to emphasize the servant like attitude that is essential in today’s physicians.
