The La Feria Volunteer Fire Department will be accepting donations to help the RGV Food Bank and those affected by Hurrican Harvey from the Corpus Christi to Houston area. It is a collective effort between the LFVFD, LFPD, the Cameron County Emergency Management Office, RGV Food Bank and of course the La Feria Community.
Donations can be dropped off at the fire station located at 115 E Commercial Ave. The collections will be ongoing everyday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice.
Under the recommendation of Tom Hushen, Cameron County Emergency Management Coordinator, donations will be channeled through the RGV Food Bank and then distributed accordingly to areas devastated by Harvey as needed.
Donations will also be used to help here at home in the Valley as needed. A first shipment has already gone out to the RGV Food Bank and on its way to help.
