The La Feria Lions came out hungry and ready for their yearly Battle of 506 with the Santa Rosa Warriors. The Lion offense came out of the gate firing on all cylinders by scoring 20 points in the first quarter alone.
The Lions defense also did their part by shutting out the Warriors offense the entire game. Santa Rosa came into the game averaging nearly 29 points a game, but the Lion defense punished them the whole game by forcing 4 turnovers and picking off 2 interceptions. The Lions went into halftime leading 34 – 0 and finished the game with a 47 – 0 victory.
Homecoming could not have gone any better for the Lions. With the win, the Lions improve to 3 – 2 for the season and head into an open week before opening up district play versus the Zapata hawks on Friday, October 13th at Lion Stadium.
The Lions will head into their matchup with Zapata on a two game winning streak. We would like to wish the Lion players and their coaches the best of luck with the rest of their season.
