Spring time arrived on Wednesday, March 20.

Much of the crops from this year’s farming cycle are out of the ground and many of the native and non-native plants and shrubs are in full bloom.

For nurseries and hardware stores that sell plants, spring time is one of their busiest times.

Numerous wildflowers can now be seen along most Texas Highways from the Rio Grande Valley to San Antonio, Austin, Houston and other Texas cities.

But a stroll along dirt roads in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy counties can produce some rewarding experiences to nature lovers.

Some of wildflowers generally seen in the Hill Country are right here in the Valley, including bluebonnets.

The brush land in Starr and Willacy counties have their share of the iconic Texas flower, so hop in a vehicle and enjoy the scenery while it lasts.
