A Special Thank You to the Community of La Feria

What does Roll Pride mean? I have read and heard this question many times this past season. Roll Pride started as a motto of sorts for our athletic teams. It serves to remind our athletes that we are a Pride of Lions and Lionettes. A family that should always stand together and support each other. Every challenge faced is a learning experience that makes us stronger and more capable. To visualize it I have always thought that our “Pride” was a huge unstoppable force that just keeps on “Rolling” down the road getting bigger and stronger every step of the way.

With that being said, I would like to thank everyone who has supported our football team over the last four months. I am honored and humbled to have been a part of such a great experience. Football season is a huge endeavor and there are large amounts of work and effort that go into it that have nothing to do with the actual football team. Band, cheerleaders, gold stars, concessions, gate workers, custodians, announcers, maintenance workers, drivers, school administrators, teachers, secretaries, paraprofessionals, the community as a whole, parents, our awesome student body, and many many more that I cannot even think of are all a part of a season and work just as hard as anyone else to create something the we can all be proud of.

As you can see, our “Pride” is much larger than just the football team or even all our athletic teams combined. Truly, our “Pride” is made up of La Feria, and anyone, past, present, and future, who supports it and strives to make it better.

Ultimately, it’s all for the students. Not just our student athletes, all our students. Not just the students at the high school, all of the students in our district. The greatest thing about this past football season was that it served as a rallying point for the district and our community.

I have a great appreciation for all the support we have received and continue to receive; however, it can’t stop with football. The Pride is so much bigger than just one sport. Our community is a great one but we cannot continue to “Roll” until we become the community that supports our students in everything they do. They deserve it and in the end are better for it.

Again, thank you to everyone who supported this season. It was great to experience the community united behind a common goal. I would also like to extend a special thanks to the parents of our athletes. You have allowed us to work with your boys and push them to their limits and create a team out of them. Finally, I would like to thank our athletes. You have worked hard for us and done just about everything we have asked of you. Even when it didn’t look like it was working you didn’t give up and kept pushing through. You have left a legacy for others to follow and that is how you keep the Pride rolling.

Roll Pride!
