La Feria News
Great success came for this year’s car show sponsored by The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Rio Grande Valley Chapter. The show took place at this year’s Fiesta de La Feria on Saturday, February 18th. The AACA is a Nationwide Car Club founded in 1935 with the main headquarters located in Hershey, PA. The local RGV Chapter was established in 1988. Mr. Moses Mendoza, Jr., a retired Army and Educator is the current Club President. Mr. Mendoza states that the club is non-profit, and their objective is to raise monies for different organizations. During the car show on Saturday, the entry fee was either a monetary donation of $10 or a donation of non-perishable food. Mendoza said that this year they raised $950.00 and a large box of canned food. They will be donating the money at the next La Feria City Council meeting. In this year’s Fiesta, they had 115 entries which included two motorcycles and eight tractors. He mentioned that this is the only car show that he’s aware of that tractors participate in. Mr. Mendoza would also like to thank the City of La Feria for their incredible support and to Jimmy De Leon from Los Leones Restaurant who helped organize the car show. He would also like to send a huge shout-out to the members of the AACA-RGV to judge, register and work to make this Car Show successful. Finally, to all the car owners who brought their beautiful rides to be part of this great show. Listed are the winners by category.
