Cameron County Precinct 4 Commissioner Gus Ruiz recently organized the 6th Annual Back to School Bash, which took place on the 26th of July at 26623 White Ranch Road in La Feria. The event was a resounding success, drawing early crowds as eager participants queued in their cars. This annual gathering, which initially commenced with the distribution of 500 backpacks, has evolved significantly over the years, thanks to the community’s overwhelming support and generous sponsors. Fast forward to this year, the event expanded to provide 1000 kids with backpacks loaded with essential supplies, books, and various other useful items. This growth is a testament to the community’s commitment to our students, and the remarkable giveaway of 1000 pairs of socks thanks to a local sponsor is a shining example of our collective impact.
In addition to the enriching backpack experience, attendees had the opportunity to check out an impressive array of vehicles from the Old School Car Club as they made their way out. The synergy and excitement fostered among all participants was remarkable, reflecting the collective effort of our sponsors, volunteers, and partners. This unity is what makes our community strong and ensures that our students are fully equipped for another successful school year.
Commissioner Ruiz is immensely grateful to the outstanding sponsors, dedicated volunteers, Cameron County Constable PCT 5, and Old School Car Club RGV for their invaluable contributions. He also extends special thanks to Senator Morgan LaMantia for gracing the event with her presence. Furthermore, heartfelt appreciation goes out to Sunny Glen Children’s Home, Driscoll Health Plan, and Community Action Corporation of South Texas for their invaluable partnership, which played an instrumental role in making this event possible.
