Several football players from the La Feria school district played ther first 7-on-7 game in the Harlingen League.
The season started Thursday, May 18 and will end on July 5 at Victor Park.
Gilbert Conde, a parent and volunteer coach with the team, said the games are a way for the players to do some workouts and, at the same time, to be prepared for the fall season.
“There is no body contact,” he said, “so they don’t wear protective gear.”
The players will play every Tuesday and Thursday until the first week of July.
Seven on seven is an all passing sport that has becoming more and more popular among high schools nationwide.
Conde said quarterbacks and receivers play against linebackers and defensive backs.
