This year we are extending 250 complimentary tickets for children 10 and under. The Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center partnered with the NINOS, Inc., Head Start Center, the Boys Club, and Housing Authority to distribute the tickets. While this music is native to the border and the Rio Grande Valley, we felt it was important to target the youth to come to the festival as well as with their families. Conjunto music is over 100 years old, and it is important to teach our youth and the community at large of the importance of this musical tradition. We note that the Los Fresnos High School Conjunto Halcon under the direction of Conjunto teacher Juan Longoria is one of the best Conjuntos in the state of Texas.
