La Feria News
The La Feria Lions are getting set for the UIL Class 4A Region Four Playoffs. The Lions will be taking on the La Vernia Bears out of 15-4A DI. In what will be a tough test for the Lions, the Bears come into the playoffs with an 8-2 overall record as well as the District 15-4A Division I championship. But How did the Lions get here?
La Feria currently comes into the postseason with a 6-4 record and 3-3 district record. After a week one loss to Donna, the Lions bounced back with three straight wins over PSJA Southwest, Brownsville Pace, and Mercedes.
Now 3-1, the Lions got ready for District Play where they suffered a loss to Alice.Trying to bounce back, La Feria lost a close matchup to the Tuloso-Midway Warriors. La Feria then ran into a brick wall in the Calallen Wildcats. After an 0-3 start to district play, La Feria needed to turn the tide.
La Feria then faced off against Hidalgo and overcame the Pirates to win by one point 35-34. Riding that wave of momentum, La Feria defeated Zapata and H.M. King to go 3-3 in District play, securing the fourth seed after Hidalgo lost to Calallen.
The Lions entered the 2021 Playoffs as the 16-4A DI District Champions. The Lions lost to Beeville Jones in the Bi-District Round, while this season, La Feria looks ready for a playoff push.
