Throughout District Play, you play teams twice. But how about non district? That is often the case at times as you may clash with a team in a tournament, then meet them again in another matchup or tournament. That proved to be the case as the La Feria Lions clashed against The Brownsville Hanna Golden Eagles to end December.

The Lions and Eagles clashed in the C.E. Vail Basketball Tournament earlier this month. In what was a tough matchup, the Lions and Golden Eagles battled to the very end with La Feria coming out on top 47-46.

Two weeks later, both teams went on different tracks. Since then, La Feria went 1-3, while Brownsville Hanna went 1-2.

It was a good old fashion case of “Deja vu” as once again, both teams battled throughout the game. La Feria came up close to win, but this time, the Golden Eagles had a different idea in mind.

Brownsville Hanna would battle back late in the game. Despite a push by the Lions, Hanna had a late surge of offense and held on to win 57-50.

La Feria will have their final non-district tune up against Brownsville Veterans Memorial and get a much needed week off before opening 32-4A Play.

The first half of 32-4A play will open against Hidalgo on January 10, then Brownsville Jubilee on January 14. The Next three to end round one are against Valley View on January 17, Port Isabel on January 21. And Grulla on January 24.

The Lions have a great team to make a serious run at the 32-4A title.
