SkillsUSA Students Move on to State Competition

The La Feria Independent School District (ISD) SkillsUSA teams displayed their talents on March 1st at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Harlingen. This year, the teams represented various fields, including Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Computer Science, Health Science, and Audio-Visual Technology. As I write this, the district is still awaiting the results for the Health Science team; however, all other teams have successfully qualified for the state competition, which will take place in April in Corpus Christi. A heartfelt congratulations goes out to all the students for their hard work and dedication!
The SkillsUSA Championships follow a structured progression that begins at the local level, with contests taking place in classrooms across the nation. Competitors advance through district and state levels, with the top performers ultimately earning the chance to compete on the national stage, and potentially at the prestigious WorldSkills competitions. These events not only allow students to showcase their skills but also enable them to build important connections with industry professionals and potential employers. Participants compete for recognition through various awards, which include medallions, scholarships, tools, and other valuable prizes.
District, state, and national winners receive gold, silver, and bronze medallions, along with scholarships and tools, all of which contribute to their professional growth and advancement in their respective fields. Once again, good luck to everyone advancing to the state competition!
