Lions Wrap Up 2024-25 Season

The Roll Pride has kept on rolling throughout the 2024-25 Texas High School Basketball State Playoffs. After knocking off, Calallen, Bay City, and Floresville. Up next against the Lions was the LBJ Austin High Jaguars. The Lions were looking to keep their playoff momentum In the Region Four Final. LBJ picked up three wins over Fredericksburg (74-50), Somerset (48-39), and Brazosport (80-66). What made this matchup a lot more important? A Trip to the 4A State Tournament was on the line. The Winner would go on to represent Region Four in San Antonio.
The Jaguars took the lead in the first quarter over the Lions by scoring as twice as many. A 12-6 lead over the Lions allowed to recover and played solidly in the second quarter. The Lions outscored the Jaguars by just four points. Despite playing solidly, the Jaguars were leading 23-21 at the half.
La Feria stormed right out of the gate in the second half. Despite mainly being a defensive battle in the third quarter, the Lions were able to outscore the Jaguars once again. This time, La Feria spotted up seven more points than Austin LBJ. Heading into the final quarter, La Feria Led 32-27.
In the fourth quarter, LBJ and La Feria put up a combined 26 Points in the fourth quarter despite defense stealing the show. As the game went on, key baskets by La Feria allowed to close in on LBJ Austin. Late in the game however, key defense by the Jaguars would keep La Feria at bay. At the final buzzer, Austin LBJ would take the win 43-42.
La Feria’s Historic Season comes to an end. A very successful season that saw the Lions capture an Undefeated 32-4A District Championship, as well as a 4A Region 4 Finalist. The Lions finish with a record of 26-8 overall and 10-0 in District.
