The La Feria lions came out with something to prove and did so by overwhelming crosstown rival Santa Rosa 42 – 3 in the the annual Battle of 506. Santa Rosa’s first offensive drive looked promising in the opening quarter of the game, but the lion defense buckled up and held them to a mere field goal. That would be all the points the warriors would get for the remainder of the game. The La Feria offense struck early and often as quarterback Eric Cuervo found multiple recievers for touchdowns in the game. The running game also had major contributions as both Marco Alejandre and Mando Garza each scored for the lions. The unsung heroes for the offense were the offensive line who gave great protection to the quarterback all night and opened up holes for the running backs to run through. The lion defense was stout once again, allowing only 168 total yards of total offense for the game. The defense also held the warriors to no passing yards while forcing 4 turnovers and not allowing a touchdown for the game. With the win, the lions have improved their record to 3 – 1 and hope to continue their winning ways against the Santa Maria Cougars on Friday night.
