Dominguez Race/Walk Set for Sat. March 30

The 17th Annual Adrian Dominguez Scholarship 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Walk is set for Saturday, March 30 at 8:00 a.m. This event promises to bring out some of the area’s running talent and family fun. Musical entertainment will be provided and an adjacent park for the kids is available.
The Race will be held at the Veteran Memorial Park Sports Complex with the Road Race beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the Walk beginning shortly after. The Sports Complex is in the southwest part of town on Pancho Maples Drive just a quarter mile west of Main Street.
Pre-registration for the event is $10 and $12 the day of the Race. Registration Forms can be found at the La Feria News and other La Feria businesses or by calling Tavo Rubio at 797-3001 or Jaime Casas at 797-1068. All participants receive a race t-shirt. Additionally juice, fruit and bottled water will be given to all registered participants. Medals will be awarded to the top female and male runners and walkers in all age categories. The course is run through the city of La Feria and offers challenging stretches as well as a scenic view. Trophies will be given to the top male and female runners.
Net proceeds provide scholarships for students from La Feria High School. To date, 54 students have received scholarships totaling $19,800. Donations are gladly accepted.
