If you’re planning a summer outing with your kids, consider visiting the beautiful Quinta Mazatlan World Birding Center in McAllen. Recently, the beloved character The Lorax made a special appearance at the “Storybook on the Trail” event, providing families with the opportunity to enjoy art and capture memorable photos. This event, suitable for children of all ages, was a hit with families. Guests were thrilled to meet The Lorax and take photos with the character, making it a delightful experience for all.
This special event with The Lorax took place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen. Thanks to H.E.B, Saturdays in June were able to be free. Tickets for any event can be found on their Facebook page at Quinta Mazatlan World Birding Center.
On Thursday, June 27th, Quinta Mazatlan also hosted their Summer Solstice Event from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This nature festival featured an array of activities including arts and crafts, yoga and sound bowls, aerialists, a drum circle, music, and various vendors. Attendees were able to participate in a serene yoga session, savor delicious food at the courtyard, enjoy live performances, and engage in numerous children’s activities. The festival also included guided nature walks, birdwatching sessions, and educational talks about the summer solstice. This festival is eagerly awaited each year. The solstice marks the official first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and is the day with the most sunlight each year.
Situated in the Rio Grande Valley, Quinta Mazatlan is a renowned World Birding Center (WBC). Built in 1935, the mansion boasts a stunning Spanish revival architecture and was once a private residence with a Roman tub. It proudly stands as one of the largest Adobe buildings in Texas, covering 10,000 square feet.
