The La Feria Early College High School Texas ACE Program has been bustling with activity throughout the summer. Most recently, the Texas ACE high school students had the exciting opportunity to embark on a visit and tour of the UTRGV Visual Arts Building. During this visit, they were able to explore the realms of Graphic Design, Print Making, and the Photography Program. Additionally, they had the chance to step into the world of the Communication Department, where they gained invaluable on-camera experience. The students also delved into potential job prospects in video, graphic design, and communications at the city of Edinburg Media and Communication Department.
The ACE field trip for the 5th-12th grade CCE students was a memorable day spent at Creasey’s Bowling in Harlingen, where laughter and smiles filled the air as the students enjoyed bonding with their classmates over a game of bowling. Throughout the day, the students honed their bowling skills, focusing on proper stance (feet shoulder-wide apart, knees slightly bent), grip and release techniques (correct ball-handling with fingers in the holes and thumbs supporting the ball), and mastering the execution of a smooth, controlled motion towards the pins, alongside learning how to determine the angles for a perfect strike.
The past week was themed “Wild for ACE” week, commencing with “Safari Day” on Monday, where students donned safari hats and binoculars. Tuesday was “Neon Day,” a vibrant display of the students’ brightest colors, followed by “Wacky Wednesday,” a day dedicated to embracing wacky socks, hair, and clothes. “Animal Print Day” on Thursday saw students showcasing their favorite animal prints or costumes, and the week concluded with “Sports Day” on Friday, during which students proudly sported their favorite sports team jerseys or shirts.
The Texas ACE Program remains active even during the summer to ensure students are engaged in enriching activities and enjoyable learning experiences.
