La Feria ISD Kicks Off New School Year with a Western Kick!
- Updated: August 12, 2025

By Mike Villarreal
On Monday, August 4th, the La Feria Independent School District (ISD) proudly hosted its annual Convocation, an event dedicated to welcoming all staff members back for the new school year. This year’s theme, “Denim & Diamonds,” encouraged each school to showcase its creativity by dressing in western attire, setting a festive tone for the gathering. The district organized a vibrant and memorable western-themed celebration during this kickoff event!
The Convocation took place in the spacious auditorium of La Feria Early College High School, where the atmosphere was electric with anticipation. Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, competitions, recognitions, exciting raffles, and lively dancing and singing, all contributing to an engaging and community-oriented celebration. A special highlight for the staff was a performance by the band Rustic Rose. This occasion provided an excellent opportunity to express our appreciation for the exceptional staff as we prepare for the 2025-2026 school year.
The district also extends a special thank you to Mr. Joe Garcia, the Director of the Child Nutrition Department, and his dedicated team, along with our hardworking maintenance and transportation personnel, for their efforts in organizing this important event.
The Convocation welcomed back teachers, board members, and professional staff from diverse departments within La Feria ISD. This year, the district took great pride in recognizing and honoring school employees for their remarkable years of dedicated service. Celebrated were staff members who reached significant milestones, including 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service. The district expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment that these individuals demonstrate towards our students and the broader community. Your passion truly makes a difference every day, and we thank you for everything you do!
