La Feria Chamber Mixer Attracts New Members
- Updated: May 6, 2013
Attendees Enjoy Food & Entertainment, Hosted by Compass Bank
The newly organized La Feria Chamber of Commerce was delighted to announce that more than forty area businessmen and women attended the recent Chamber Mixer held April 25. The event was sponsored by Compass Bank of La Feria.
The bank furnished the venue, finger foods and beverages. J.C. Wings delivered meatballs for the party. Carlos Cañas provided background music for the mixer.
“I am so pleased to see the organization of the new La Feria Chamber, especially in the wake of several small town groups shutting down. It is like a breath of fresh air and the Rio Grande Valley Chamber will do all we can to help support you,” inspired Julian Alvarez, President of the RGV Chamber and has roots in the La Feria area. He committed $1000.00 to the local chamber for their first fund raising event. Alvarez also served as Kay Bailey Hutchison’s district director for five years.
Weslaco Chamber Executive Director Martha Noel also offered the crowd lots of good advice and support as the fledgling group grows its membership.
Mayor Steve Brewer and Chamber President Carmen Cadena also spoke to the group offering their encouragement and promoting networking between all the businesses.
Three new members have been added as a result of the mixer: All-Star Dentistry, G & C Steel and Another Closet.
