With Non-District Play officially over, the La Feria Lions are gearing up for District 16-4A D1 Play. The Lions will have a tough test to kick off District action. Here is what we’ve seen so far for La Feria.
In Week One, La Feria opened up the Regular season with a bitter loss to Donna 55-20. Looking to bounce back, La Feria defeated PSJA Southwest 35-14 to improve to 1-1 on the season. Now looking to keep their momentum going, La Feria faced off against Brownsville Pace in a nail-biter and fell short 28-26. In week four, the Lions took on Mercedes in a rematch of last season’s big matchup, the Tigers would go to defeat La Feria 42-6.
Finishing the Non-District Portion of the season with a record of 1-3, the Lions will turn their attention to District play.
The Lions will open District on the road against Alice. La Feria will then host powerhouse Tuloso-Midway on September 29. La Feria will then travel up the coastal bend to take on powerhouse Calallen on October 6. La Feria will then return home to host the Hidalgo Pirates on October 13. To round up District, La Feria will take on Zapata on October 20, then Kingsville King on October 27. The Lions will finish the regular season with a BYE in week 11.
In 2022, the Lions finished 3-3 in District and entered the playoffs as the fourth seed of District 16-4A D1. The Lions fell in the Bi-District round with a 42-0 loss to La Vernia. The Lions currently 1-3 will set their efforts to punch their ticket to the playoff and look to capture their first District title since 2021.
