Author Diana López Visits the Valley

If you’ve never heard of the author Diana López, now is the time to get to know her and her books. She will have a meet-and-greet on Thursday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Storybook Garden in Weslaco, located at 206 S. Texas Blvd., Suite 106.

Diana López was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. After 28 years as an educator, she recently retired from the University of Houston-Victoria as an Associate Professor of Creative Writing. Today, she serves as the president of the Texas Institute of Letters, an honor society of Texas Writers.
Diana is the author of several middle-aged novels, such as Confetti Girl, Nothing Up My Sleeve, and Lucky Luna. She also wrote a picture book biography called Sing With Me: The Story of Selena Quintanilla. On May 9 at the Storybook Garden, she will celebrate the release of book 2 in the Los Monstruos series Rooster and the Dancing Diablo. Her first publication in the Los Monstruos series is Felice and the Wailing Woman. For this book, she won the Deirdre Siobhan FlynnBass Award for Best Middle-Grade Book.

About her latest book, Rooster and the Dancing Diablo:
“The magical town of Tres Leches, home to the figures of Texas-Mexico border lore, has been through a lot. Most recently, the town was released from a curse that kept La Llorona, the wailing woman, haunting the shores of their river. But just when the townsfolk were preparing to return to sunny riverside picnics and barbecues, the children of Tres Leches mysteriously began to go missing. Si nunca has oído hablar de la autora Diana López, ahora es el momento de conocerla a ella y sus libros. Ella tendrá una reunión de bienvenida el jueves 9 de mayo a las 6:30 p.m. en Storybook Garden en Weslaco, ubicado en 206 S. Texas Blvd., Suite 106.
