LFECHS Media Students Showcase their Work at Local Film Festival

The La Feria ISD Audio-Visual students didn’t just attend the 10th Annual South Texas International Film Festival in Edinburg; they actively participated. They immersed themselves in workshops, met celebrity guests, and even had the privilege to watch student film trailers in the Young Filmmakers category, including the captivating ‘Don’t Move’ by La Feria’s Madilyn Zamorano, Elisa Cavazos, and Olivia Castro.

The South Texas International Film Festival, proudly promoted by the city of Edinburg, serves as a powerful platform to showcase the Visual Arts and the burgeoning film industry in the Rio Grande Valley. This annual celebration of the Art of Cinema is not just a competition but a source of inspiration for visionary filmmakers worldwide and the Valley.

STIXIFF, based in Edinburg, Texas, welcomes local, regional, national, and international films from aspiring storytellers. The festival features various film categories such as RGV Films, Short Films, feature-length films, Documentary Films, Music Videos, Animated Films, and Student Films. It is open to the public and includes workshops, film screenings, and a screenplay pitch competition.

STXIFF receives hundreds of film submissions annually from around the world, including the Valley. A team of industry professionals reviews each film through a secure website and rates them based on their Artistic and Technical aspects. The head programmer then selects the films to be showcased during the festival.

After the selection process, a team of industry professional judges screens the official selection films in each category and nominates top-rated films for awards. The decisions are based on the combined “Direction” rating, and the winners are chosen by the official industry judges.

The Eddy Awards, named after the city of Edinburg, are solid bronze awards that weigh 10 pounds each and are cast locally. They are reserved for the winning Feature Film in the following categories: US Feature, Documentary Feature, and International Feature.

Los Estudiantes de Medios de LFECHS Exhiben Su Trabajo en el Festival de Cine Local

Los estudiantes de Audiovisuales de La Feria ISD no solo asistieron al décimo Festival Internacional de Cine del Sur de Texas en Edinburg; participaron activamente. Se sumergieron en talleres, conocieron invitados famosos e incluso tuvieron el privilegio de ver avances de películas de estudiantes en la categoría Jóvenes Cineastas, incluida la cautivadora ‘No te muevas’ de Madilyn Zamorano, Elisa Cavazos y Olivia Castro de La Feria.

El Festival Internacional de Cine del Sur de Texas, promovido con orgullo por la ciudad de Edinburg, sirve como una poderosa plataforma para mostrar las artes visuales y la floreciente industria cinematográfica en el Valle del Río Grande. Esta celebración anual del Arte del Cine no es solo una competencia sino una fuente de inspiración para cineastas visionarios de todo el mundo y del Valle.

Los premios Eddy, que llevan el nombre de la ciudad de Edinburg, son premios de bronce sólido que pesan 10 libras cada uno y se emiten localmente. Están reservados para el largometraje ganador en las siguientes categorías: largometraje estadounidense, largometraje documental y largometraje internacional.
