After a lengthy non-district followed by the BYE Week, the La Feria Lions have officially reached the nitty gritty of the 2024 Texas High School Football Season. The Lions finished the Non-District portion of the season 3-3. Due up first in District were the Grulla Gators. The Lions have been on the winning side of things against the Gators in recent years. In their last meetings, the Lions are 5-0 with La Feria last defeating La Grulla 51-34 in 2021.
The Lions looked to continue the trend against the Gators, making it six straight wins over the Gators. La Feria shut down the Grulla offense and defense, blanking the Gators 50-0.
The Lions jumped to 1-0 in District 16-4A DII, and 4-3 overall on the season. The Lions will have two more games in District Play. The Lions will take on District Powerhouse Port Isabel, then Kingsville King on November 1.
The Lions look to continue to capture the District title for the first time since 2021.
