La Feria’s December City Meeting

The City Meeting was held on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 and was called to order by Mayor Olga H. Maldonado. Leading the meeting was the City Manager, Frank Rios, and the Planning Director, Rodrigo Davila. During the course of the meeting no visitors made any comments or interjections. There were six items on the consent agenda.
Approval of minutes for City Commision Meeting held November 19, 2024.
Consideration and possible action on resolution 2024-26 to cast votes for in the election for the Board of Directors of the Cameron Appraisal District.
Consideration and possible action on Resolution 2024-27 removing current members and appointing new members to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Consideration and possible action on Resolution 2024-28 removing current members and appointing new members to the planning and Zoning Commision.
Consideration and possible action on resolution 2024-29 appointing a member to the La Feria Industrial Development Corporation.
Consideration and possible action on Resolution 2024-30 appointing a member to the La Feria Economic Development Corporation.

The Commission made a movement to approve the Minutes for the City Commission Meeting. The motion was passed.
Consideration and possible action on resolution 2024-26 to cast votes for in the election for the Board of Directors of the Cameron Appraisal District.
The City Manager, Frank Rios, explained that the city of La Feria had a total of 30 votes that could be allocated to a representative to stand as a Board of Director. He continued by listing a few names who are current work members. Frank Rios made a clear delineation that La Feria’s vote isn’t the only vote that is counted; that there are many cities that are involved within Cameron County. He explained that the votes could be distributed however the council sees fit.
A motion was made to allocate 10 votes to three individuals. The motion was carried.
Consideration and possible action on Resolution 2024-27 removing current members and appointing new members to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The Planning Director requested to postpone this particular item. Motion was passed.
Consideration and possible action on Resolution 2024-28 removing current members and appointing new members to the planning and Zoning Commision.
The Planning Director, Rodrigo Davila, explained how a few members working for housekeeping were vacant and some expressed that they did not wish to serve anymore. In total there were three positions which needed to be filled. A motion was made to assign the jobs to three individuals, the motion was passed.
Consideration and possible action on resolution 2024-29 appointing a member to the La Feria Industrial Development Corporation.
No action was made as the position had already been filled.
Consideration and possible action on Resolution 2024-30 appointing a member to the La Feria Economic Development Corporation.
A motion was made to appoint an individual to the said position, motion was carried.
The meeting was then Adjourned.
