Congratulations to the La Feria Gold Stars Dance Team on their remarkable achievements at the prestigious HTE South Texas Dance Championship! The event unfolded on February 22, 2025, at the Mission Veterans Memorial High School.
The championship featured various dance categories, including kick, jazz, pom, prop, military, novelty, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, modern, production, and open. The La Feria Gold Stars shone brightly throughout the competition, ultimately earning the honored titles of Sweepstakes and Division Champions for their impressive performances in Hip Hop, Pom, and Novelty.
In addition to their team accolades, individual performers also excelled. The trio of Aleena Ruedas, Danaira Vasquez, and Katelyn Torres achieved first place in their category, showcasing exceptional talent and synchronization. Katelyn Torres further distinguished herself as a finalist in the solo competition, displaying remarkable skill and artistry in her performance.
The Gold Stars captivated the audience with their delightful, Shrek-themed Novelty routine, which not only won Best in Class but also had the crowd roaring with applause. Their performances were so engaging that they received multiple Judge’s Awards, highlighting their strengths in Presentation, Entertainment, Showmanship, and Choreography.
The South Texas Dance Championship is a significant regional competition organized by the HTEDance & Spirit Group, aimed at nurturing young talent in the performing arts. This event provides a platform for aspiring dancers to showcase their skills while competing against fellow teams from across the region.
