La Feria Falls to Zapata Basketball

The La Feria Lions took on the Zapata Hawks in another round of District 32-4A Play. After suffering their first district loss to Port Isabel, the Lions were looking to bounce back. Meanwhile, the Hawks have been on a four game win streak ever since their loss to the Tarpons to open up District.
La Feria played some key offense to start up the game. Zapata would counter it defensively. The game remained a tight contest throughout the match. La Feria and Zapata both displayed strong offense all night. After a tough second half, Zapata was able to play more efficiently on offense and defense and would ultimately hold on to win the matchup 55-53.
The Lions have now lost two games straight and will prepare to begin the second half of District 32-4A Action. La Feria would go on a four-game win streak to begin 32-4A play, La Feria opened up the district with a win over Grulla 61-39. The Lions then knocked off Hidalgo 53-38, Brownsville Jubilee 58-33, and Harmony School of Innovation 57-12. La Feria’s First loss came at the hands of Port Isabel in a wild 61-56 game.
La Feria will open the second half of 32-4A play against Grulla on January 24, then against Hidalgo on January 27/ The Lions will then take on Jubilee on January 31, then begin February action on the 3rd against HSI. To wrap up District Play, the Lions will take on Port Isabel on February 6, Zapata on February 10, and Raymondville on February 13.
The Lions are looking to make their way back to the postseason after missing the playoffs in 2021-22.
