La Feria News
The La Feria Lions continue in District 32-4A action in the 2023 Texas High School Baseball Season. Despite success early on, the lions have found themselves in a bit of danger.
To begin District, it was 2-2 as La Feria picked up wins over Raymondville and Grulla, as well as losing to Hidalgo and Zapata, the Lions were slated to go against Harmony School of Innovation. A key offense for the Lions allowed La Feria to knock in seven runs and render HSI Scoreless and won 7-0.
La Feria then took on another key rival in Port Isabel. In what was a back-and-forth battle, in the beginning, saw the Tarpons take the lead and ran with it as Port Isabel picked up the 5-2 win over La Feria.
La Feria then suffered a key loss to Zapata to open up 32-4A round two. La Feria would then bounce back to pick up a 6-0 win over Raymondville to sweep the Bearkats.
The Lions then took on the Grulla Gators and fell short in a close game 2-1. The trouble for La Feria continued against Hidalgo as the defending district champion defeated the Lions 11-1.
Now at 4-6, La Feria remains optimistic in 5th place of District 32-4A’s playoff race. Currently, in the postseason outlook, Hidalgo, Zapata, Grulla, and Port Isabel hold the playoff spots.
With only two more District Games left, the Lions would need to get in gear to capture the fourth seed.
